Position Title: Medication Aide

Pay Rate: $9.00/hour

Education and/or Qualifications:

  • CPR & First-Aid Certifications
  • The ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include heavy lifting, bending, and prolonged standing
  • The ability to respond appropriately in all situations
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Experience in the care of the elderly preferred

Description:

This position will require the administering of medications, as prescribed, to all residents in the facility. To help maintain correct and up-to-date records of all medications administered and to make records of medication inventories. To give direct care to all residents; which include but are not limited to bathing, grooming, and meal preparation. To perform general housekeeping duties; which include but are not limited to laundry, dishwashing, cooking, and mopping. To be able to perform individually and as a part of the Green Hill Home For Adults, Inc. team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic direct care and assistance to all residents
  • As necessary, assist residents with bathing, eating, dressing, & grooming
  • Help residents prepare for medical appointments, family outings or visits, etc.
  • Change bed linens when needed or as directed
  • Help maintain a facility that is clean, safe, and orderly by completing general housekeeping and  laundry services
  • Come to work as scheduled and on time
  • Supervise and assist with resident ambulation, toileting and incontinence
  • Record oral intake after each meal
  • Interact with patients, family members, visitors, or volunteers in a respectful manner
  • Preserve dignity and respect of all residents, report all resident reports, incidents, or accidents
  • Monitor patients and report any variances or pertinent information to the administrator promptly
  • Follow infectious disease precautions to prevent the spread of organisms
  • Participate and/or help conduct monthly emergency drills
  • Medication management
  • Encourage all residents to attend activities
  • Direct activities as scheduled on the activity calendar
  • Remove immediately and report of any food or medication found in residents’ rooms
  • Directs visitors and answer phone
  • Take blood pressure or sugar, temperatures, pulse & respiration rates, as directed or as needed
  • Serves, prepares, and collects food
  • Make records of medication inventories
  • Must have a clean and well-groomed appearance while at the facility
  • Promptly respond to residents’ requests for assistance
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning all things pertaining to residents
  • Ensure all residents' Individualized Service Plans are being met
  • Maintain training qualifications as mandated by Commonwealth of Virginia and maintain up-to-date certifications
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Director of Business Operations or Administrator of facility.
